State Party Chair Steve Munisteri Update -- January 2015

February 3, 2015
The start of a new year is time for planning. This was the case with the RNC as it held its first meeting of the year in San Diego. National Committeeman Dr. Robin Armstrong, National Committeewoman Toni Anne Dashiell, and I all attended the multi-day meeting at which the future of the party was discussed.

Of particular significance to the Texas delegation was a resolution that we sponsored asking that the Committee on Convention Arrangements ensure that there is a live microphone in each delegation during the 2016 convention so that points of order can be raised. In 2012, numerous Texas delegates requested that I allow them the opportunity to use the microphone in our delegation for the purpose of raising a point of order regarding the rules adoption vote. Unfortunately the microphones were not live, which resulted in several delegates shouting "Point of Order" during the subsequent keynote speech because they had no alternative way of getting recognized.

RNC Chairman Statement on President Obama's Budget

February 2, 2015
If you are reporting on President Obama’s budget proposal – an unserious political document that raises taxes, increases spending, and adds trillions to the debt – please consider the following statement from Republican National Committee Chairman Reince Priebus:

“By offering a budget that taxes more, spends more, and adds trillions of new debt, it’s clear President Obama would rather play politics and double down on the same top-down approach that has left the middle class behind. While President Obama and Hillary Clinton believe in putting Washington first, Republicans are embracing the American people’s priorities and will present a budget that balances while making the federal government more efficient, effective, and accountable.” – RNC Chairman Reince Priebus

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus Reelected To Third Term

RNC Chairman Reince Priebus was just reelected for a third term heading into a very important presidential cycle. The RNC has made a lot of changes to bring more Americans into our party and win key elections. As Chairman Priebus just said, we’re 80 percent there and we have 80 percent left to go but we’re ready for Hillary and the Democrats running for Obama’s third term. See the Chairman’s full remarks below.

RNC Rolls Out 2016 Presidential Debate Schedule

January 16, 2015
Statement from RNC Chairman Reince Priebus:
“The 2016 cycle is underway, and I can tell you it will be a landmark election for Republicans,” Chairman Priebus said. “By constructing and instituting a sound debate process, it will allow candidates to bring their ideas and vision to Americans in a timely and efficient way. This schedule ensures we will have a robust discussion among our candidates while also allowing the candidates to focus their time engaging with Republican voters. It is exciting that Republicans will have such a large bench of candidates to choose from, and the sanctioned debate process ensures voters will have a chance to gain a chance to hear from them. The American people are tired of President Obama’s policies, and I am confident the debate process will enable candidates to communicate their ideas and ultimately help us elect a Republican president in 2016 to get our country back on track.”
