Margarita Patterson

Today, we honored a great Republican Election Judge, Precinct Chair, and volunteer, Margarita Patterson at her graveside service at New Pursley Cemetery, whom passed away Tuesday March 26.  She was born in Argentina on October 21, 1944, but proudly became a United States citizen — speaking only English unless her translation skills were required.

Her professional career as an office manager of Dallas Law Firm Oster and Kaufman spanned 25 years.  Upon retiring, she spent time organic gardening and volunteering for the Republican Party of Navarro County.

In 2006, Margarita ran for Justice Of The Peace Precinct 4 against a longtime Democrat, when the only Republicans in the Navarro County Courthouse were three Constables.  When people were needed for the Republican booth at Derrick Days or Cotton Harvest Festival, Margarita would often be the first to volunteer — and she would bring and use her Volunteer Deputy Registrar folder.  She worked part-time in the Elections Office, County Judge H.M. Davenport, and County Commissioners Office.  She served faithfully as Treasurer for the Navarro County Republican Women, with the highest integrity.  She courageously fought her ovarian cancer through the 2018 election, as well as the past several years.

State Senator Brian Birdwell presented her family with a Texas flag flown over the State Capitol.
