Republican Party News – Meetings, Precinct Chairs, and Applications now open to fill Pct. 2 Constable Candidate Vacancy

It has been some time since we have all gathered to discuss issues for the Republican Party and our upcoming election. As many of you are well aware, it has been more than hectic for so many of us dealing with the compounded issues relating to COVID-19 and the economic downturn that ensued. Since the County Convention, County Delegates went on to attend the first ever “virtual” State Conference. This was a challenging and time consuming task, especially for our SD 22 Caucus Chair, Chris Woolsey. I would like to congratulate Chris on an outstanding job running the SD Caucus Meeting! We would like to congratulate our new State Party Chair, Allen West, Vice Chairwoman Cat Parks, SD 22 Committeeman Jon Ker and Committeewoman Devvie Duke, and our own David Foreman as an alternate delegate to the National Convention.

While uncertainty remains after the cancellation of the convention in Jacksonville, we should know more in the coming weeks with how the process will play out.

In regards to local business, we have two immediate issues we need to take up.

First, be advised that all elected EC members will automatically begin their terms as Precinct Chairs on August 3rd. While we are still not able to plan the in person organizational meeting, we are looking at all options. With all the rules converging, and shifts due to runoff date alterations, the dates we can call our organizational meeting… and remain compliant with everything are August 18,19,20 or September 1st- 17th with the proper time notification. Here is a direct link for the current RPT rules if anyone has any questions

Sadly, as many are aware our elected candidate for Pct. 2 Constable, Charles Paul, passed away shortly after the Primary Election. We must now fill the vacancy for the Republican Candidate for Precinct 2 Constable. This position will hold a 2 year term. A notice is being posted this week on our website, social media platforms, and mailing list for any Republican who currently resides in Precinct 2 in Navarro County who wishes to be considered. Applications will be due by August 17th to Steven Jessup or Eric R. Meyers. Applications for consideration can be emailed to or , by mail to the RPNC HQ, or hand delivery on appointment. Precinct Chairs from Precinct 2 only will convene a special meeting called to interview the candidates and select our candidate for the November ballot. This will occur between August 18th and August 22nd when a date and time can be agreed upon by all of the Precinct 2 Chairs who will begin their terms on August 3rd, 2020. Our Precinct 2 Constable replacement must be chosen and submitted to the Election Office by August 24. Applicants for consideration are asked to fill out the general form for placement, however a filing fee is not required. Link is listed below:…/…/advisory2019-17.shtml

As we all gear up for the November election, we will be stocking our Headquarters with candidate signs, including President Trump. Unfortunately, the Trump signs all must be ordered and we are looking at our options for pricing and sizes. All other Republican candidates will be brining us signs in August. The RPNC looks forward to seeing everyone soon, and certainly helping us prepare to KEEP AMERICA GREAT and TEXAS RED!!

Eric R. Meyers, County Chair
Republican Party of Navarro County
